Revision ... A delve into the archives

Been having problems with hard drives and trying new software since my last post, having tried ON1 and the new version of ACDSee and after my brief and expensive dalliance with Capture One I am still sticking with Adobe for the time being unless something changes before my current subscription expires.
Having a working hard drive fail is something I have had to deal with around every 18 months or so, fortunately I only lost edited images as I have my RAW files backed up and organised. Checking the new drive has copied everything as it should I have been randomly looking at older shoots again and picked out a few to rework and post on the blog three from 2015 will be published today and later on, the first is with Claire Louise who I have shot a few times this being the the only solo session we had. A glamour session using mainly natural light and portraits shot in the studio processed in Lightroom and Photoshop.

Beth Kate

I have been aware of Beth Kate for some time as she lives not too far from Birmingham and she had a look that suited a style of shoot I have been planning to shoot for some time. Contact was made a shoot was organised and planned quickly. The shoot was in two sections natural light and a studio set. The day of the shoot we had a sunny day which made the light levels and camera settings not too difficult to manage. The images shown here are from those sets as I had a few problems with the studio images technically which will need further work.

Isolation . ... Going through the archives

As I am in week two of twelve of isolation, I am going back into my digital archives starting with 2004 when I first bought a DSLR the images below are of Maria who ended up featuring in a overseas version of Playboy and has long retired. Taken on a late afternoon entirely natural light with two large white polystyrene boards as fill in. The second set were taken in my lounge using a self made background using dyed painters dust sheet lit with Courtney Colorflashes with silver umbrellas.

Nicola & Jen

Nicola & Jen , a set on Flickr. I contacted mua Nicola Tseng through Model Mayhem as she was local and looking to collaborate with local photographers after a few emails we decided on on a urban theme shooting in black and white. Nicola had been in contact with a new model who was keen to add to her portfolio, it was just a matter of finding a location that had not been overused as is the case in Birmingham once somewhere new is found the foot fall from photographers is great. So I went looking around the Digbeth/Highgate area and found boarded up parking lot with a few boards missing granting easy access, it was also close to the White Room Studio whose owner Dan Stone allowed us to use the dressing room to prep. Two days before the shoot our 'model' disappeared, fortunately I was able to draft in Jen who models under the name of Envii Mi at short notice. The shoot itself went well shot entirely in natural light and using reflectors and a diffuser.
